The Ameliators Progrom: Uniting EPICS, GEMS, and Stempower

We are incredibly excited to announce a new program to connect high school students to meaningful STEM-based community service projects, guided by college mentors. High-school-age girls will meet weekly to learn the Purdue EPICS design process from college mentors to solve a real-life problem over the course of a semester.

The high school program is a collaboration among three Purdue organizations: GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math and Science), Stempower (a STEM-focused mentoring student organization), and EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service). GEMS with a vast recruitment network and research base, Stempower with inspiring and relatable college mentors, and EPICS with expertise in connecting students to service-learning, all combine to provide a rewarding experience for high school students.

Launching in Fall 2020 this virtual program will create connections and opportunities in uncertain times. Our current Ameliators are getting ready to start their semester project with an animal shelter in Alexandria, Virginia!
