About

Stempower is a mentoring program that aims to inspire girls in their future endeavors through fun, hands-on STEM activities. We partner with area Girl Scout troops to pair young girls with relatable college mentors. Our focus on fostering self-efficacy seeks to motivate young women to pursue higher education in STEM and create lasting community relationships.

Founded at Georgia Tech in 2015, Purdue University's chapter started in 2018 by a group of students inspired by Stempower's mission. Since its founding, Purdue's chapter has continued to grow and develop relationships with area Girl Scouts and Purdue organizations.

Our program involves monthly meetings at which mentors lead a hands-on STEM activity while emphasizing important character traits. After completing our curriculum, all girls will earn the Stempower patch!

We are expanding our program to provide Virtual and Outdoor activities for any interested community group. Additionally, we are launching a high school program for STEM-based community service projects in Fall 2021.

Our Mission

Our Mission

We strive to empower young girls to pursue future endeavors through fun STEM activities that promote character-building and mentor-mentee relationships.

Our Vision

Research shows that young women start to lose interest in math and science in middle school. Stempower was created to mentor elementary girls in STEM to increase self-confidence, provide relatable role models, and encourage girls to pursue higher education in STEM fields.
