Hi my name is Reagan Sanders and I am a freshman in FYE at Purdue, hoping to pursue environmental engineering as my major with a minor in political science. In the future I intend to work in the transportation sector and work in the decarbonization of it. I joined Stempower as a mentor, girl scout troop coordinator, and outreach committee member my first semester of my freshman year and became treasurer this semester. I joined Stempower because of my love for working with kids and teaching people new things. I have always enjoyed community service and spreading knowledge, especially of math and physics/other science classes, so Stempower seemed like a great way to continue to do such. Furthermore, I loved the opportunity to work towards evening the gender ratio in STEM and empowering many women to make powerful changes in the world. Outside of Stempower, I work closely with GEMS, an international organization also targeting increasing interest in STEM amongst young girls. I love that I get to do work for this important cause in two organizations. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with friends, listening to music (often at full volume in my car with the windows down), and watching new shows or movies. I am so grateful for all of the new skills and opportunities Stempower has brought me thus far and am looking forward to what’s to come from my continued membership and experience as a boilermaker!
